Under sista natten i sitt liv såg Imam Hussein (fvmh) till att uträtta sina böner och krävde av sina fiender om att få tid till att åkalla Gud och be till Honom, och han sa: ”Gud vet att jag älskar att be, recitera Koranen och långa åkallelser och att söka förlåtelse.” Han begav sig flertalet gånger till Kaba till fots och utförde Hajj.
Ibn Athir har skrivit att ”Hussein, må Gud vara nöjd över honom, fastade mycket, uträttade böner, utförde Hajj, gav välgörenhet och utförde samtliga andra goda handlingar.”
