Onsdag den 11 maj 2022 sänder SVT:s Uppdrag Granskning ett reportage i vilket mut’ah behandlas. För shiamuslimer innebär mut’ah i princip ett krav på samtycke vid relationer.

I reportaget framkommer det allvarliga anklagelser om missbruk hos religiösa företrädare såväl som information om utsatthet hos kvinnor. Detta blir nu en prioritet för samfundet.

ISS har inlett en intern utredning för att klarlägga om någon av samfundets företrädare förespråkar att mut’ah används på ett sätt som strider mot svensk lag och den shiamuslimska traditionens etiska principer. ISS har vid årsstämman den 7 maj 2022, agerat omedelbart med att bland annat, frysa bidrag till berörda medlemsorganisationer och stängt av de inblandade personerna.
